Below are award programs child nutrition programs can apply for to be recognized as a leader in child wellness. 

HealthierUS School Challenge: Smarter Lunchrooms

The Healthier US School Challenge: Smarter Lunchrooms provides National level recognition from USDA for schools reaching the Gold, Silver, Bronze or Gold with Distinction level. The 4 year award recognizes efforts undertaken by schools to provide smarter lunchrooms and an environment that supports physical activity and nutrition education. Applications must be submitted to the State Agency for review and then are forwarded on to USDA by the State.

Healthier CACFP Award and Menu Toolkit

The Healthier Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Award is a recognition system that supports the wellness efforts of child care centers and homes participating in CACFP. Child care centers and homes taking steps to improve the nutrition, physical activity, nutrition education and/or environment for children in their care can apply to win an award in one or more of these categories. Three award levels are offered: Honors, High Honors and Highest Honors.
