Who is responsible for the Student Curriculum (8th Grade) Plan within a school district?

Answer:

Each district must decide for itself who will be the lead for this process. In many districts the counselor is the lead; however, others who are leading the efforts include a secondary social studies, a CTE teacher, and a school-to-work coordinator. Language arts and English teachers have become involved in some of the writing components. Some districts involve the special education staff because of their familiarity with addressing future planning for their students. Legislation does not specify who conducts the process. Many districts are finding that a coordinator who works to oversee the work but divides the responsibility for individual components or grade levels among others who see the students on a regular basis works the best. If all 8th grade students are in a computer class, the computer teacher could help them set up the accounts as a part of that class. Other districts give the entire process to one person.
