What plans does FNS have to evaluate the FFVP?

The FFVP authorizing legislation mandated an evaluation of the program to determine whether children experienced, as  a result of participation in the program, increased consumption of fruits and vegetables and other dietary changes, such as decreased consumption of less nutritious foods.  In response, FNS developed an evaluation with two components: (1) an impact student to estimate program effects on participating students and schools; and (2) an implementation student to examine how FFVP operates in participating schools.  The results of this study can be found in the “Evaluation of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Executive Summary” published March 2013.
