What if a parent is feeding their infant inappropriate foods such as lettuce, raisins, chips, hot dogs, etc. and say, "They can eat them just fine."
In order to be reimbursed, all required food items must be offered at the meal or during the period of time in care. The center should have a signed statement for other foods served. This is not only for the welfare and safety of the infant, but also to protect the center from liability. If the center chooses not to follow recommended childcare practices, they may be found at fault if injury occurs. It may be beneficial for the center to establish written policies and best practices for feeding infants.
