Are expelled students counted in the full academic year?


If the student is officially dropped from the building's enrollment rolls. the student is not enrolled for a full academic year.

Is it possible to be a district in need of improvement and not have a building in need of improvement?


Yes. A building may not have the required number of students at a grade level or within a subgroup. However. when the achievement data are aggregated at the district level. the district might meet the required number and fall short of the AYP goal.

What does 1% of alternate assessment mean?


The 1% alternate assessment refers to the students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. NCLB does NOT limit the percent of students able to participate in the alternate assessment. A student's participation in the alternate assessment is decided by the IEP team.
