Apply now for an ELL literacy grant

The Iowa Department of Education has created a competitive grant program to enhance the literacy skills of English Language Learners as directed by the Iowa Legislature. The English Language Learner Literacy Grant Program is state-funded and open to all Iowa school districts.

Priority in issuing grants will be given to school districts with:

  • High percentage of students identified as limited English proficient, or
  • High number of students identified as limited English proficient, or
  • An exceptional diversity of languages of origin spoken by students determined to be limited English proficient.

The Request for Applications is currently available. Applications are due to the Department by October 17, 2014.

The Department will conduct a webinar on September 22nd from 10:00-11:30am to provide specific information and address questions. Please download and review ALL grant documents prior to the webinar and make every effort to participate in the webinar if you intend to submit a grant application.
