The Iowa Department of Education will be requesting proposals for a three-year federal grand opportunity to provide services to develop, implement, and improve adult education and literacy services in Iowa. These grant funded awards include 1) Adult Education and Literacy, English as a second Language and High School Equivalency Diploma Programs (WIOA sec. 231), 2) Corrections, Prison/Institutionalized Adult Education and Literacy (WIOA sec. 225); and 3) Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (WIOA sec. 243).
Grant applications will be available on the IowaGrants website. Completed applications must be returned electronically on IowaGrants.gov by 5:p.m. on May 1, 2017 to be eligible for 2017 - 2020 funding. Award announcements will be made in June with a start date of July 1, 2017. Questions should be directed to Alex Harris, State Director, Adult Education and Literacy.
A Technical Assistance Bidder’s Conference will be held March 28, 2017, at the Jessie Parker Building, Grant Room, located at 510 East 12th Street, Des Moines, Iowa and will be made available via a webinar for those unable to attend in person.
- 9:00 a.m. to Noon – Adult Education and Literacy, English as a Second Language and High School Equivalency Diploma programs (WIOA sec. 231) and Corrections, Prison/Institutionalized Adult Education and Literacy (WIOA sec. 225).
- 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. -- Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (WIOA sec. 243)
At this Bidder’s Conference, we will discuss guidelines and support in applying for these grants, address questions, and provide potential recommendations. The Bidder’s Conference is not required but is open to any entity that may be interested in knowing more and those wanting to provide feedback. Register for the Bidder's Conference
