In Principles to Actions, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) calls for the implementation of tasks that “promote reasoning and problem solving” (p. 10) as one of eight “research informed teaching practices” (2014, p. 7).

Eleven Iowa teachers were recognized during the Outstanding Iowa Teachers Recognition Luncheon today in Des Moines. Gov. Kim Reynolds, Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg, Iowa Department of Education Director Ryan Wise and Iowa Department of Education Bureau Chief Linda Carroll presided over the luncheon.
