Can the school district share its SAVE revenues with a county?
Yes. The only method by which a county could share in the SAVE funds would be if that entity had a 28E agreement with the school district. In that case. this legislation allows the county’s portion of the proceeds to be used to provide property tax relief within the boundaries of the school district located in the county. The requirement that the revenue purpose statement contain a statement as to the specific purpose or purposes for which the revenues shall be expended would include the sharing of tax proceeds with the county. The county could not share in the tax proceeds without a valid 28E agreement.
