What is a violence-related suspension or expulsion?
This is a suspension or expulsion for more than ten (10) days that occurs because the student is determined by the local school board to have physically injured or threatened to physically injure another student at school (in the building or on the grounds) or at a school-sponsored activity in the commission of one of the following crimes:
- A forcible felony;
- A physical assault, with the exception of a simple assault (no injury);
- Any sexual assault;
- Extortion;
- Use of a bomb or other incendiary or explosive device;
- Criminal gang activity; or
- Carrying or using a weapon.
