What should the average teacher know about the Iowa Core?
At this point. teachers should have an understanding of the expectations for the grade levels and content areas they teach. This information can be accessed at www.corecurriculum.iowa.gov. Teachers should be engaging in professional development aimed at the implementation of the Iowa Core. At a minimum, teachers should have completed the Foundations of the Iowa Core module, found on the Iowa Core moodle, http://moodle.aeapdonline.org/.
Time lines:
- High schools are required to have implementation plans in place by July 1, 2010 with full implementation to occur by July 1, 2012.
- K-8 plans are required by July 1, 2012 with full implementation in 2014-2015.
