What assessments will be developed to align to the Iowa Core? Will schools be required to use these assessments with students?
Iowa Testing Program is in the process of developing end-of-course assessments that align to the essential concepts and skill sets of the Iowa Core. Some of these are currently available in mathematics and science. End-of-course tests are optional and districts may choose to use them, as appropriate. Additionally, professional development is being developed to increase teachers' capacity to use formative assessment related to the Iowa Core.
