FERPA and PPRA
In mid-October, the U.S. Department of Education notified school districts of their obligations under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and its Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA). This is done annually. The specific office within the federal department that sent the letter is the Family Policy Compliance Office (FPCO). The link to FPCO is www.ed.gov/fpco. Included in the letter were Superintendents Notice, CSSOs Notice, FERPA Model Notification of Rights, FERPA Directory Information Notice, PPRA General Notice, and PPRA Model Consent/Opt-Out for Specific Activities.
