The information provided below is designed to assist AEA, school district, and Department staff in recruiting Generation X and Generation Millennial candidates to hard-to-fill special education support and related service positions. Anchoring the information is a document entitled Recruiting the Younger Generation of Emerging Professionals that contains multiple strategies for reaching new-generation candidates. The Iowa SLP logo and moniker is an example of a graphic that stands out, makes a statement about the profession, and attracts the young working professional. The Iowa SLP logo was based on Generation Y research that stated Generation Y is a more socially conscience generation that cares about the environment and society. The Iowa SLP Logo was developed with that principle in mind for speech-language pathologists (SLP).
