Concurrent Enrollment Courses and Charging Parents (May 2008 School Leader Update)

There are two means by which secondary students may access courses for both secondary and postsecondary credit: Post-Secondary Education Options (PSEO) and shared courses with a community college. For only the latter, districts receive supplementary weighting. For only the former, a district may seek reimbursement of $250 from a student if the student does not pass the PSEO course. While a district may charge a reasonable book rental fee (assuming the district owns the textbooks used for the course), in no event may a district charge tuition for a concurrent enrollment course.
