Iowa Teacher of the Year nominations due April 26

Thousands of talented Iowa educators lead and inspire their students, but only one is chosen annually as the state’s top teacher. The deadline to nominate the 2014 Iowa Teacher of the Year is April 26.

 

Annual Condition of Education report is available

The Iowa Department of Education released the 2012 edition of the Annual Condition of Education report.

The report provides a wide range of state-level data, including shifts in student populations and demographics, teacher salaries and characteristics, student achievement results and school financial information.

 

Iowa’s high school graduation rate increases

The graduation rate for Iowa’s class of 2012 climbed statewide from the previous year, according to figures released by the Iowa Department of Education.

 

Smarter Balanced pilot broadens

Due to the overwhelming demand for access to the Volunteer Pilot assessment from principals, teachers, parents, and the public, the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium has decided to release a more complete and more broadly available “Practice Test” in lieu of the Volunteer Pilot assessment. The Practice Test will be available starting May 29.
