Iowa Veteran Honored as Outstanding Teacher

After 22 years in the U.S. Air Force, including serving in Africa for Operation Enduring Freedom, Kyle Teeselink of Manson wanted to take on another adventure - teaching Iowa high school students. He was honored on Monday as Iowa's first Teacher of the Year for the Troops-to-Teachers Program. The Iowa Department of Education recognized Teeselink during the Manson Memorial Day Celebration.

 

Iowa Graduation Rates Remain One of Top in Nation

The Iowa Department of Education today released the Class of 2008 graduation rates. Statewide the graduation rate for 2008 is 88.7 percent. Iowa continues to have one of the highest graduate rates in the nation. The dropout rate is less than 3 percent.
